If time passed 30 +1

estebandido | 1 October 2009

And the time to cross the barrier of the 30's came.

It's been a long way since celebrating my 30's last year in South Korea . Today, once again in Ecuador, the proud and sovereign country, celebrating this birthday with my loved ones, although some in the distance but I know that with me.

Very interesting all this year knowing that you are in the age where everyone will look more seriously, although I'm told I can still pass for 26 or 27, but hey that's why I'm so well preserved.

These 365 days have been great. I finished my Masters , I competed in many races and improved my time, but also had injured some months, but the best thing this year was to share with my father's dream of a lifetime to get the Great Wall of China (soon will place the photos on Flickr), and because not only were there but we got to the roof of the world Tibet , at Phi-Phi Islands and Angkor Wat , it was great to re-meet in this time the two and know that we are not only father and son, but also friends and that all dreams are achievable in this life.

Million thanks to the sms, calls, e-mails, tweets and FB posts from around the world (seriously, I too was surprised). With friends like you for more, and for those who have not yet still have time for the day is still long.

I share with you the official photo of my 31st birthday, not that it is an angel, but I think this costume is going well or not?

What else should be made to appear in the media?

estebandido | 4 May 2009

Reading newspapers online has become part of daily routine in the middle of my coffee, before going to college. I review several newspapers, both of Cuenca as Quito and Guayaquil, and good think that's the distance I can have a pretty good idea of what happens in my country.

Recently I was more aware than ever, especially in the sports, having racing news of Cruces Basin . For obvious reasons the local media give coverage to the same, but the truth on national media nothing comes out, just for them traditional 3 races in this country do not exist, 45 years Las Cruces Circuit , Circuit 42 years Borota Richard Child , and 11 years of race walking Luis Chocho .

I wonder what should make Cuenca to be shown on these national media?, Or is that perhaps, if not in Quito or Guayaquil skills do not matter.

As an athlete I can say that when we heard of racing, is through "word of mouth", and if we see a competition in another province, is because they show the results of what was already the day before, on a small note lost in the paper.

Eye is not only events of this type, a few days ago was the same with Deportivo Cuenca. Although I am a fan of Cruz del Vado , which is in second class, I was happy to know that the D. Basin achieved a historic step in the Libertadores, and for truth in media Basin was published this, but for the mass media both Quito and Guayaquil as tv, truth was the great feat, and it was as it happened, point.

Again I ask, is that only bad news like the provinces to publish?, Is that perhaps rank next round of the liberators is not so great, or have a career for 45 years and have been the hotbed of the most great distance runners of the country is not enough?.

Both the D. Cruz Basin as the Ford Circle, are traditional clubs in the heart of Cuenca, and do great things not only for the city but the country, or is it perhaps jealousy and regionalism are also in the media? or just remember the Cuenca, when they are champions and win medals?

I sincerely hope not.

In races with the thesis

estebandido | 27 April 2009

What do I write now? - And now I write? These last weeks have been crazy, missing only a few days to deliver the first draft of the thesis, and I have like crazy, the days seem short, when I look at the clock and are 22h00 or 02h00.

The University closes at two o'clock on campus, so until then I can be out there, but I'm locked and one day I went, I thought I was the only one but I found that many students were still studying.

But hey bad nights and early mornings between daily, I come to run a few days in the last week to loosen the muscles, and that both spend sitting, it hurts all, but good also that since the month of February and had planned to run the 10K Adidas MBC Hangang Marathon 2009 with my friend Greg.

This time I can say that the fatigue of every night for the thesis did not give me the courage to go running, but gradually got used to me and so I got good competition and I have not trained as thoroughly as on previous occasions, I can say that the result has been quite safistactorio.

Adidas MBC Hangang Marathon 2009 My last March, I made 10k in 50:15, finished at 48:54 today the truth let me happy, so good I'm in the fight to improve my all my time as my promises for 2009 , last year my best 10K was 57:13.

At the end of the day also served to remind me though not on the exact date, which was now in preparation for the Cross 2009 , which come next week, I know it will be a major success last year, but good to see the internet will play this year, to enjoy again in 2010.

The opportunity comes, do not stop dreaming

estebandido | 17 April 2009

Almost 2 years ago I had the opportunity to see a video that really excited me, even wrote a post about it .

It was about the reallity Brit's Got Talent , one of the participants was Paul Potts a dreamer, who had his opportunity and shined.

Today, thanks to a post on his blog Rubi Torres Mammals, Technology and Sports , I learned of another dreamer who was looking for his chance at a new version of this reality.

Susan Boyle is her name has 47 years, and really seeing it in the video I was stunned, I think that struck me more than when I saw Paul Potts.

When you go on stage people do not think she could make a good presentation, there were even jokes when asked, What is your dream? She said I'm trying to be a professional singer, and why it happened before? asked, she said, because he never had the chance, but now everything could change.

Enjoy the video, tears are permitted

Everyone has a talent and a mission in life, maybe it is not easy to find, but when discovered, it all becomes satisfactory.

The week of revenge

estebandido | 17 March 2009

At last the weather has begun to change in Seoul from this week and temperature reaches 18 degrees, until last week when the temperature was -6 degrees. Although in previous weeks and the weather was improving enough last week was a tremendous change as we again began to feel the cold of winter.

So last week a friend told me that this is the week of "revenge" and said there tell me that, I said what happens is that Korea is the belief that when the weather is finally about to change from winter to spring, winter sends us a week quite cold but the envy of the arrival of spring, so send us this week for revenge.

Well let me tell you it's true, last week was a terrible cold when we're warm, and already beginning to open all the windows to air, to the point that I turn the air conditioning, hehe.

So good, we begin the spring and that also means that only a few months and coming home, really fast time passes.

The famous Korean Dog Soup

estebandido | 3 March 2009

From the first time I came to Korea I heard a lot about your great food and if you enjoyed it enough on this occasion.

Now much more for every month that I'm living here, but something I heard from the first time and had not been able to prove was the famous " Dog Soup . "

Bosintang (보신탕) or dog soup , is very famous, but very secret so to speak. All Koreans know about it, but nobody says you know they sell it here or you can go in this direction, it's kind of a myth but very real.

The breed of dog that is used for this soup is special, is raised specifically for consumption. There is a soup that is consumed weekly and has a price of 15,000 won (13 USD) per person, a bit expensive for all budgets. The interesting thing is that during the hottest days of the year, usually in summer, this dish is traditional, so they lack the space for restaurants cater to diners.

When I asked many friends and colleagues about the famous soup, all have told me they have heard of it, one or two have tried, others have not tested because they say it smells bad (which I am not aware at all) .

The soup itself is now consumed by older people, young people the truth does not consume much in the subject they see dogs as pets, but I have other friends that they love.

My experience

Music of The Ravens

estebandido | 1 March 2009

Taste and enjoy listening to music I did for my dad, since I have reason to remember he was always with his LPs (Long Plays, vinyl, acetates) playing music at home, recording their cassettes to carry in the truck and where we listened to everything.

Singers such as Leo Dan , Palito Ortega were part of "basic" for the trip, José José , Camilo Sesto , The Tabajaras , The Huayanay , Nat King Cole , The Earthbound , among other gigs were part of the traveling, so when many people put those songs I do not really sound odd, I think we are part of my growth.

A group that I liked and that were always reminded Ravens Cuenca group, dating from the 60s - 70s rock and roll gender and ballads, the last time you heard was a tape that goes around the house.

For some time I was trying to find some songs from them, and now finally I have achieved through this web site is called Hard to Get Disk , so I have it and it really sounds great with that classic sound the LP (scratch), the album was called "The Ravens came" and what I've read seems to be the only LP that they recorded it, if anyone has it I would like to purchase.
