What does being an entrepreneur?
estebandido | 24 July 2007 Why I write
Actually I always wanted to write something about entrepreneurship. I remember starting to write some stories about my projects I have done,
until one day he stole my laptop and it was all there, I went back the urge to write about.
Perhaps it was the right time to do it, now I do not know if maybe you are ready to write a book or something, but I already have a little more experience compared to those early years of setbacks and entrepreneurship.
I feel safer now want to.
Thanks to technology, of which I have never been separated, I can write my ideas and share them in a massive way in this blog .
I really hope to fulfill a dream it is to write a book and maybe come back to give lecture at university, let's see what happens and start typing.
I would like to receive comments, sometimes you do not always right, so it's good to hear, and say with courage, I am wrong.
What does being an entrepreneur?
I hear sometimes that entrepreneurs are only those who excel in big business millionaires, as we have seen in movies: Jerry Maguire , The Secret of my success , among others, but I sincerely believe, and I am convinced, that an entrepreneur not only is creating a big business or comes to managing a large enterprise, entrepreneurs are all in life that sometimes just do not feel well.
I went to Wikipedia to see what the definition of an entrepreneur or entrepreneurial and found this: "Entrepreneurship is the person who identifies a business opportunity and organizes the resources needed to implement it. It is common to use this term to designate a "person who creates a company," or someone who begins a project on their own enthusiasm.
I agree in part: "identifies a business opportunity", and second that says "someone who begins a project on their own enthusiasm."
I think an entrepreneur, as he says the Wikipedia , is not just a person who sees a business opportunity, you can create civic, social or political. But what's the point of doing something to not get an economic return, if the environment around you says "you must study hard to get a good job with good income?": It is because you feel good about yourself and know you are doing the right thing.
We often see young people who give their time and dedication to an event, a project and feel you. Well, that's entrepreneurship: what you do know that you like.
I keep checking the Wiki and learn the origin of the word "entrepreneur" which comes from the French word "entrepreneur" used to call the men on military expeditions, the "expedition".
Again according to this point. Being an entrepreneur is to be an adventurer by nature, willing to learn new things only to achieve the objectives, stumble and get up again, look and look north to find him.
But what are the characteristics of an entrepreneur? Dreamer, crazy, motivating, persistent, you feel love for what he does, joy, with clear objectives, tenacity, drive, innovation, attraction to the challenges, creativity, without fear of risk, pro-active, happy, friend, partner, etc..
There are many more that could be listed but I think these have a clear vision of these people.
Many times people call us dreamers, madmen, but I think even to dream means you have to be crazy. Without being crazy would not dream, if we do not dream no ideals, no ideals there are no targets and no target is not a venture.
So I believe that dreams are a great start to the venture, wanting to achieve something is the first step, says a Chinese proverb: "The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step." It's true, it should be the decision of wanting to take that first step, often the most difficult because we have to deal with ourselves and here come the dilemmas of life. Once we take the first step we started forward, but stumbled on the way back to get up, shake off the dust and still harder. Dreams should not die, if God gave us the greatness of dreaming is for us to understand how far we get.
I know I should be copying from somewhere this slogan, but for the entrepreneur "your sky is the limit."
Why I think the sky is the limit? Because the truth, no limits, is the desire to follow that you have with your ideas and your goals forward. Being an entrepreneur often puts you face dilemmas such as: What am I doing right? Should I continue?. Then I tell you that happened to me many times, sometimes I doubted what I do, but I sat to think and see what I've done, and know that conclusion I arrive? I am happy of what I do! And that makes it go ahead with the ideals that I have, and know that we walk in problems or stumbling, but it helps me wake up and, hey! this is not over, as the Americans say: if you sleep you lose it (if you snooze you lose).
Now, what about people who have decided to start a project, a company, organization, etc? Well, as I said at the beginning of the article, we are all entrepreneurs and we are not aware of it.
When we study, when we work, we do because we like good many times we were forced to study, especially at school, but when we understand how important this is for our life becomes a venture. In daily activities we perform, to romance is a venture, because you're half crazy when you meet someone, then dreams, and etc, etc ... so I think I am convinced that everything in life is a venture, some large, some small. Just because you get up and go to work and are working on your venture, the ideal is to identify what you do you like and feel is right.
I honestly do not think it is easy to reach that state of mind that we do is right. Many times we have to be in places we do not like, but I think that we also need to see the good side, everything has something positive, we must know to find-that's the key, and see what we can be entrepreneurial and often Hence the ideas for new projects.
For me what is the definition of an entrepreneur? Well I think it is: a person who dreams and wants to fulfill this dream, but most of all enjoy doing and have to suffer to achieve it, because he knows that when you reach it you know you did the right thing in your life and enjoy it to the last day of his life.

Lenin Ulloa | 23 July 2007Hi Stephen
This full what you wrote, I think you touched the core issues of what we believe what is entrepreneurship, ideas, dreams, effort, timing, etc..
The only thing I would like to add to your writing is a word "freedom", I believe that the entrepreneur has the need of not being tied to an organization, relying on himself.
So for me being an entrepreneur is:
A person who clearly sees an opportunity to take advantage as he dreams and idealizes this idea to make it happen. Where every day and going freely pooling the resources necessary to create and improve it.

PD. I believe and am convinced that when you have an idea and dream about it and want deep you make it real hard you have to ask God, the universe, you name it, and after you ask to many desire and faith, in some strange way things are settling into your environment for your effort with this idea gradually becomes a reality.

I agree with being an entrepreneur is not a particular task but an attitude in life. Who has no spirit of entrepreneurship is likely to do anything important in life. Every decision, every step in life requires this spirit of adventure, full of energy, confidence and perseverance.
Well, I wanted to also share with you a very good place Chilean Ministry of Economy, called http://www.paraemprender.cl , where you can find many useful tools, articles and news related to the world of entrepreneurship.
Greetings!
