Tungurahua Volcano M3
estebandido | 16 August 2006My apologies for not updating the blog for some time now, but the truth has not been much to tell and been a little busy with M3 and the campaign of Rafael Correa . Anyway ...
M3 decided to take a small break to rest, I wish that we all, but only 2 we decided to go to the Tungurahua Volcano . Fernando and Esteban (I), plus my cousin Andrew.
So began our journey in a car borrowed from my brother Fernando a Jeep and Toyota of those classic red for a change.
We leave Quito a little late as we had to go collect food, and so on, we bought food for this life and the other the truth, and that if, as we did not know where we decided to bring easy to prepare food (tuna, milk, bread, more tuna, most breads, etc) as per the recommendation of my friend Theofilos Toulkeridis geologist who recommended I go to Baños de Ambato antennas for better observation of the volcano.
As directed by Theo there are 2 ways to reach the antennas: 1) go to Pelileo and take the path that leads to the village (long and safe option that no impediments on the way), and 2) reach Baños de Ambato to cross the bridge and climb evacuation length (the shortest).
To be sure of reaching the place we decided to take the longer route (until that time we knew it was not the longest), and climbed and climbed the mountain, we saw beautiful landscapes and at times a dose of 4 × 4, after almost 2 hours of travel we arrived at the famous antennas, to our surprise almost a tourist as there is a 24-hour shop, selling from passion, to corn, to drink.
Already in place began to settle down to spend the 3 day trip, and received the welcome of the volcano with a tremendous explosion that scared us because we are not used to this, we could see the ash release is impressive to see a phenomenon of nature. The sound of the explosion is like a cannon.
And we started to camp, Fernando told us that out for the first time this type of activity, my cousin and I old skillful scouts thousand and one battles we set up our mini camp, all the while we could see some ashes from the volcano fumes, the really was incredible.
Given the cold conditions of the place where we chose to get wood to make a small fire at night, which not only helped us to heat food, but other visitors to heat the place.
The night went completely cloudy, listen and hear the volcano cannon but could not appreciate the pyroclastic flows were the two o'clock and we were already seated in the tent when it came an explosion which made us tremble with fear, we hurried to the tent see something but nothing.
Already in the morning we got up for breakfast and surprise ohh my dear cousin Andrew left their shoes outside the tent and friends of what made them go outside (were stolen), I was surprised this hazing of but as you could do, and had no shoes.
We had to get off to Baños de Ambato to buy some cholas (shoes) as he calls, we seek and seek and find, the return of the antennas we collected as much wood in the jeep for the night.
We spent the day resting, sleeping, relaxing, sleeping, and occasionally take the volcano with more guns.
Night came again, this time we were already prepared with plenty of wood, some bottles of zhumir for the night, heat the food and hope that tonight we could see the spectacle of the volcano, but they know what happened .... nothing else quite cloudy night, we could not see anything.
And medium cansandos Happies and waiting so we went to sleep, this time if the cholas were saved from my cousin, for the last day.
Again the breakfast we break camp as soon as we could, and down to Baños de Ambato, we wanted to see a little more closely what had happened with the volcano, so we started to get into it, we got to the point where the road disappeared in a previous explosion, then returned to Pelileo and decided to go to Bilbao, a little long but the way it should be noted that the road was in very good condition.
We arrived to a place facing the volcano could see the damage it caused in the area and just then there was an explosion that made us run, climb into the jeep and left, it is sad that many people live in the fearful and you have to leave at midnight running for their lives.
I hope the volcano sleeps, and that local people can return to normal life.
We returned to Quito, safely, without incident, let everyone in your house and get my girlfriend's house to receive his caresses, lol.
Hopefully next year the entire team of M3 anime has the magical mystery tour to perform.
