Ubuntu 8.10 on HP Pavilion tx1420us

estebandido | 5 November 2008

Well a few days ago came the version 8.10 of Ubuntu, so I downloaded it and decided to try on my machine.

So far I can say that truth is a very good version, I really like and I have seen changes that have been made are the best.

My machine has 3 partitions root, swap, home, that way it's easier to change the distro and have more secure my files and preferences.

I made the root of the respective format, and after finishing it, I could see that this version starts much faster than 8.04.

That works for me (from what I've tried so far)

  • Audio: no problem, even before working alone with the alsa mixer, but this time I decided to put everything to PulseAudio Sound Server and it works great, really worth all the audio programs I work with no problems.
    Well I have it configured:
Sound Events, Music and Movies, Audio Conferencing all with the option to PulseAudio Sound Server
Defaul Mixer Tracks: HDA NVidia (Alsa Mixer)
  • Video: In the best, and they've released an Nvidia driver version 177, which works without problems and now work for all purposes in the previous version gave some problems but this has been corrected.

My first Marathon

estebandido | 2 November 2008

My first marathon

Now if I have the pride to say I am a "Marathon Runner".

Today for the first time I participated in a Marathon and I finished, I took 4h14m22s to complete the 42,195 KM which is part of this competition.

I am very happy, and as I always say, nothing is impossible.

A 3 hours of the Marathon

estebandido |

Are good at 4:45 am on Sunday, November 2, and my alarm up to me to tell me that the time has come.

During the last two hours has been difficult to sleep, has been very hot, and I also started to get concerned and think of everything.

I've eaten some fruit and I began to listen to some music to relax a little, in this way time flies, I have to be at 6:00 am on a cafería to meet Andy Klein, a friend I met in the University and was also preparing for a competition in your country. He has worked in the powers of adventure, almost not to participate this week because he took a bad cold.

Well it's time to get into the shower.

It is now 6:04 a.m., time to go out into the taxi, we have to meet with other people at 6:50 am, so I expect a short trip.

Time to get out, and it's time to have fun!

Ready for the Marathon

estebandido | 1 November 2008

Ready for the Marathon Good long-awaited day finally comes, missing just 2 days for completion of JoongAng Seoul Marathon for which I have been preparing well for all these months.

I really am excited and nervous at the same time, be the first time that I will participate in a competition like this, so many nerves there and I just know that I am physically and mentally prepared to do it, period.

Has been a long road to get to the Marathon, I did not think it would be so hard that at times made me want to stop and that is all there, but I feel that everything was worth it so far.

Many do not know the long days between studies and to go out and train in the morning, afternoon or evening, the early hours of weekends to go running to the outskirts of Seoul, and thus has been a sacrifice but I'm happy.
