And we're back

estebandido | 28 June 2009

After nearly 8 weeks without writing anything on the flight to retake blog.

Thanks to those who have written asking what has happened in these weeks, and also those who have written asking questions about some settings in Ubuntu for their laptops.

I tried to answer what I've been, but in future weeks I hope to catch up with a tutorial of 9.04 for HP.

Why have I been missing? good because a lot has happened since the end of the thesis, provide a first draft, corrections, defense of it and good at the final ranking is given a few days ago.

In summary, I have been in full with the University, my dissertation was approved I have been asked to write an article for a journal, and well I finished my Masters, which was the goal to get here, so mission accomplished.

Graduation / The Graduation Day

Thanks everyone, keep posting and good hope in the coming days, I have many things to write and count, has been a great journey so far will be written.

Blood type for Koreans

estebandido | 12 August 2008

Arriving in Korea seemed normal that I ask in medical examinations and in some papers my blood type, but then gradually it seemed a little odd that most times I keep asking.

In one of the books of lectures on Korean history, talk a lot about the importance of blood type for Koreans, the mixtures had during times of war and lived with Japanese colony.

But I found it strange that when we went to U-Park to go in there gave us a card and asked us to ask our data on blood type.

With the passing of days, I learned that Koreans have enough meaning that blood type you are, to the extent that they believe that define your personality, for which the Yonsei University did a study and some results interesting.

In the case of U-Park idea is that as you know which personality type you have (in theory) creates a profile for you according to your preferences during the visit.

I asked several people their blood type and the truth in many cases coincided, mine is O, you think that defines me as I am?

Now try you, you find the information . Available in Spanish as well.

Some fried bananas

estebandido | 4 August 2008

Bananas in Korea My family knows I love food with bananas , fried bananas, banana tortilla, mature cheese , etc.

The other day I thought no one here has seen bananas, Orito, green, repeat, and just yesterday walking around Itaewon , I find the sale of bananas in a corner.

The place was a person of Africa, it appears that there also are known as " plantains "I was mad, not only because they sell here, but for the price equivalent to 2000 w 2 USD, gosh buy a $ 2 slice bananas in Ecuador.

So I buy, I'm waiting to mature a little more to make me some fried bananas and because some tortillas, and now I can I sell tortillas on the streets of Itaewon .

The other day I try to do something similar with some bananas that I had on hand, but the fry were made soup, I was almost to burn, left for dessert in the end.

Itaewon neighborhood of foreigners

estebandido |

If you've been in the United Estates, jony, just in New York, you know that there are several places where people from other countries come together, as in the case of Little Italy for Italy, China Town for Chinese, Flushing for Ecuadorians and the Roosevelt for all Latinos

In the Roosevelt can find everything you need in your country, in the case of the Ecuadorian male soap, Quaker Oats, Zhumir, Pollo Gus, Maniche, including one million more.

Well, here in Seoul, there is also a similar and is called Itaewon . Here people from all countries attend, you can find food from different countries, food, cell phones and feel a little closer to home. The stores are more focused on foreigners, and everyone speaks English, which does not happen in the other businesses in Seoul.

Why run?

estebandido | 29 July 2008

International Circuit Cruces Basin Many people ask me why I run, because it is not a fad, not just for health or for weight maintenance cost me so much to lose (15 lbs), but rather face me every time I do.

Since returning to resume training for more than a year, very significant for me was the fact finish the race (10 km) inside of me felt an emotion that simply can not describe it, maybe even wanted to mourn for the excitement to end of the competition at that time.

Then came more responsibilities and increasingly gaining more confidence in them, putting even greater challenges in distance and time, yet my thoughts on the course were starting to be clear about why I enjoyed it so much.

Tips for traveling to Korea

estebandido |

Well after a month, I thought proper to write a few small suggestions or tips for future students who come to Korea.

This is written based on my experience of being a first month here, if during the next few months I think it deserves an update I will.

  1. Passport photos: In many places they ask for them, and in my case in Ecuador are cheaper photos, so I recommend you bring passport photos.
  2. Apply for multiple entry: When did I get the visa for one entry to Korea, but here in the immigration office make the change without problems, so you use? because you used when you want to visit other countries do not make trouble re-entering Korea.
  3. Change money at the airport: From what I've seen so far at the airport change is higher than banks in Seoul, which may recommend that you change your money at the airport, eye when the change was high there, and banks is lower, now do not know.
  4. Deodorants: If you like what you hear, here there is no deodorant at all stores, from what I have told the Koreans because of the food and your body does not use them, so the stores are well told, but that if a price 10 to 15 USD, so I recommend that you bring from home, so bring the ones you like because there is no variety here.

A hug from afar.

I leave you with a picture of my co-mastery. More photos into my Flickr

Octopus - Eating Live Octopus

estebandido | 13 July 2008

Well always heard of the rare and eccentric food of Asians in general, but until it was my turn to try one of these.

Actually I was not prepared for it or anything, just went to train with a Korean friend asked me if I liked the octopus, I said yes, then we went to this restaurant for lunch.

And we asked the dishes listed first octopus boil, put the marrow hiviendo living in a pot a few minutes and have them cut them into pieces and eat it to this very rich truth.

Then ordered another dish and brought alive with scissors just started to cut into pieces, moving tentacles and eat has been said, I was cold, I said help yourself, so I took a piece and stated in very but very rich.

Unfortunately I had no camera with me so I can not graphically document this, but I assure you again, I really liked.

Here I put some videos very illustrative for the case
