Juan Carlos Sanchez | 27 April 2008

Best Regards

Yesterday I was in the Flisol, I live north of Quito, after nearly two hours until the Salesian finally felt that all efforts useless to try several times to have the system on my PC penguin were to terminar.Llegue so excited that not even fill out the registration form, I went to one of the gurus who installed the softaware right and left, my laptop was there, with a CD and a few commands, the "very simple" installation process began, Oh surprise "unknown" WIN VISTA gurus, they defended the penguin, partition the disk?, how?, defragamentarlo ... how? and wait, well it was worth, wait almost the FLISOL anions, why not wait a few more hours to have the beautiful UBUNTU, the defragmentation of the giant disc (a disc normal to the latest generation of computers) of a hp pavilion dv2660 ES intel dual core with 2GB of ram, was a riddle ... one more try .. nothing ..
UBUNTU was no match for VISTA, the hours passed .. and good work sent me down or programming to partition the disk, I offered to leave an image of UBUNTU 8, or since, but the image was not at my desk, I've got an image of Ubuntu 7.10 and I jump into the SIXTH attempt to put Linux on PC ... I hope not tired and able to do, well at least I got the FLISOL giving me a nice sticker to paste on the laptop above the adhesive VISTA's invulnerable and able to see live and in the famous cube, before a video for me ... rigged.
I'll take the bitter taste of this unpleasant experience, I thought istalar yUBUNTU WIN would be easier to install WIN and LEOPARD (I installed the countless times on PCs and MACS partitioned) but with UBUNTU WINDOWS definitely not take a enigma to me ...

Well be waiting another FLISOL or make the system more friendly, or wait patiently for the slow pace of free software.

Dear Juan Carlos,

Felipe Ureta | 2 May 2008

Dear Juan Carlos,
I just wanted to make note that if you could not install Ubuntu, it was not for lack of merit of the free operating system, if not, that Microsoft does not like sharing anything with anyone and then there are installation problems. Recominedo you, if you have the time and still the desire that the partition uses TO Restore Vista to reinstall Vista but this time before installing partition your disk so that you leave unpartitioned space to install Ubuntu. Of course before doing anything, make a backup of your important data and burn a CD of restoration of Vista for the worst.
I tell you I have a Laptop dv9275la, but luckily came with two hard drives so that the installation of Ubuntu on the second disk is most easily and quickly.
I leave a link on how to install Ubuntu on a hard drive with Vista: http://apcmag.com/how_to_dualboot_vista_with_linux_vista_installed_first.htm We do not reformat the disk, just the redimencionan from within Vista.
Too bad you did not find a link in Castilian.

Regards,
Philip

Juan Carlos do not understand how someone from the Flisol, do not

Gustavo Vega | 10 May 2008

Juan Carlos
Do not understand how someone from the Flisol, you could not install Hardy Heron (Ubuntu 8.04), it really is basic and I'm not technical!.
Boot with the LiveCD, choose the Spanish language, then choose install ubuntu, when you are in the Ubuntu desktop, where the icon to install, go to "Applications> Accessories> Terminal" (what people call Linux console) and type:
$ Sudo gparted
This will have a graphical interface that lets you resize the disk, if not partitioned, preferably if you will not use linux but to play, give a 15 GB partition for OS and depending on the amount of memory (RAM) you have, you've to add the 15 GB memory size dobledel.
Even with the mouse you can change the disk size.
When you're done, (it takes a lot of the partitioner to resize, migrate data from Vista to one of the disks and leave them ready to install any other operating system.
After leaving the partitioner, you double-click Install and follow the instructions until you are told you are going to partition the disk, for what you choose "manual partitioning" in the space you left for linux, create a partition twice the size memory and tell him the type of format is to exchange (swap). With the rest leave it to ext3, and "/" as mount point (this means that there is the installation), you put the end of the partition and then let it install until you said that you need to reboot.
When you reboot you will have a menu with the two operating systems running! (Grub :)
I skipped some steps, but I think your choice in the menus will be quite logical and not give you problems.
Hope this helps

Greetings.

the solution to the sight of friend is that you forget the installed ubuntu and wine is an application that allows you to run exe in case of an application that does not exist in linux is good almost all special cases only, I have a HP TX- 2532 swivel screen with touch and gradually found the driver packages and it works super but if you have two systems never change the way you work.

ubuntu living.

Greetings.
With respect to Gustavo Vega must be considered that the youth of the FLISOL are more willing and there are cases that even the most technically can fail to congratulate the Flisol from Esmeraldas
