Itaewon neighborhood of foreigners

Estebandido | 4 August 2008

If you've been in the United Estates, the jony, exactly in New York, you know that there are many places where people from other countries meet, this is the case of Little Italy for Italians, China Town for Chinese, Flushing for Ecuadorians and the Roosevelt for all Latinos

In the Roosevelt can find everything you need for your country, in the case of the Ecuadorian male soap, Quaker Oats, Zhumir, Chicken Gus, Maniche, including one million more.

Well, here in Seoul, there is a similar place called Itaewon. Here people from all countries attend, you can find food from different countries, food, cell phones and feel a little closer to home. The stores are more focused on foreigners, and everyone speaks English, which does not happen in the other businesses in Seoul.

We went to dinner with some colleagues in search of a good meat because it is hard to find around campus. We went to a meal instead of Jordan, the place is called Restaurant Petra (Petra is the place where they filmed the Last Cruzda Indiana Jones), the main dish was mutton (lamb) very rare thing for me. I ordered the dish is called Sultan Lamb, when they brought me change my face to see, was something shocking, that she would not eat it, but anyway here I go.

I tried it and really was delicious, the meat was very soft and juicy, but still had in my head the idea that it was lamb, but I enjoyed it also gave us accompanied by a menestrita of beans and Arrocito.

As I said here in Itaewon encounter people from all sides, but I never imagined that I could find Ecuadorians in these streets, apart from other students who already know.

They are living Andres and Diana 9 and 7 years respectively over here. Walking down the street listening to the song pass me the bottle ... and I told my companion that music can be heard in Ecuador, but seeing the signboard of the food cart and a letter that says Empanadas Ecuador froze me.

I approached the cart and say hello to them, are sold guaiac and cheese pies, tasty truth, new Ecuadorian friends, in this remote country.

Thanks for letting us know and learn more from the east. Respect

Thanks for letting us know and learn more from the east. For places in NY I think before Flushing Park, most Ecuadorians 'all together' are in Queens and Roosevelt the same!

Follow up photos, as soon as I have stolen one! Greetings.
