The famous Korean Dog Soup

estebandido | 3 March 2009

From the first time I came to Korea I heard a lot about the exquisite food and if you enjoyed it enough at the time.

Now much more for every month I'm living here, but something I heard from the first time and had not been able to prove was the famous " Dog Soup . "

Bosintang (보신탕) or dog soup , is very famous, but very secret so to speak. All Koreans know about it, but nobody says you know they sell it here or you can go in this direction, it's kind of a myth but very real.

The breed of dog that is used for this soup is special, is raised specifically for consumption. There is a soup that is consumed weekly and has a price of 15,000 won (13 USD) per person, a bit expensive for all budgets. The interesting thing is that during the hottest days of the year, usually in summer, this dish is traditional, so they lack the space for restaurants cater to diners.

When I asked many colleagues and friends about the famous soup, all have told me they have heard of it, one or two have tried, others have not tested because they say it smells bad (which I am not aware at all) .

The soup itself is now consumed by older people, young people the truth is not consumed much by the subject who see dogs as pets, but I have other friends that they love.

My experience

Sunday competition after they told me to go to lunch, but before that, I asked a very quiet if he knew of the soup and if I wanted to try it, I said yes to in a while I wanted to do, and there told me that the restaurant we were going was the dog soup and took me to a place Bulgwang.

Soup Dog / Dog Soup / bosintang 보신탕 This was a full house, a little more and we wait for table, we were like 12 people to eat, I was a little emotional truth not knowing what to expect, and the idea that stunk or something, the truth at all, not smelled like he had heard, even thought we would pass the meat on the bone or something, but no.

We just went on a tray with vegetable broth and shredded meat list, among them one could see the flesh and skin, I can say that in appearance resembled the hornado.

Let it cook for a while and was ready to prove it has been said before it is prepared in a small cockpit with mustard sauce and some spicy, since the idea is that it grabs the vegetables, meat and the mixture with the sauce and eat.

So I did as I saw my friends and the truth, I was rich, I thought it would horrible, but the flesh was very soft, and I say as such in the hornado, hides as if they were potatoes with leather, so I enjoyed what most of this dish.

Soup Dog / Dog Soup / bosintang 보신탕 Then at the end of all flesh, began to drink the soup and the rest of the soup mix it with rice and eat again been said. It is typical that at the end of soups is requested rice and mix with them.

As he had told several of my friends and colleagues, I can not say I lived in South Korea, if I have not eaten dog soup, as well as I did, enjoy the video.

If you are in Korea and I am still happy over here I'll take you to the place, so send me an email and we'll go.
