May God save us from having

Estebandido | 17 April 2008

It is the holder of the note published in the Diario El Pais in Spain.

This gives us the reason, once again, why use free software, because we can not be at the expense of a company change the systems and support we run out, or we are forced to have to buy a new computer, think if this happen with a system that manages a country and assured the company that owns the system decides not to give more support or simply does not give the keys or access to the system, there is a clear example as happened in Venezuela.

In many cases, as the computer using my father would not need to switch to a new operating system, but if he wanted support would be forced to have to buy a new computer. Just in case, my family only use Ubuntu.

Today, buying a desktop or laptop brand, is subject to the operating system they imposed on us, marrow because I can not decide what I want as software operating system, even if he wanted to have XP instead of Vista I'm forced to buy with Vista.

So the free software gives us the freedom to choose the distribution that most suits us, without having to change at any time of computer, and above all have the satisfaction that I can control my computer by 100%.

I hope that very soon and come to Ecuador computers DELL with Ubuntu.

Francis | 15 May 2008

For a certain way if Vista headache with certain other features will dramatically improve user productivity, but mostly I take the trouble to write in this blog is about the fact that you mean that the user has no freedom to choose which operating system you want for your new machine, then connect permiteme I bought my machine when I care SO, is more first thing I do when I purchase is to support the drivers and formatting so you have several with multiple operating systems pariticiones Vista, W2K3 and Ubuntu. Because I care much research that offers each OS and Ubuntu as I find a good operating system, have yet to mature a bit but in the end this is the cycle of software.

Greetings,

@ Francisco: Responding to your comments on "therefore communicate permiteme

@ Francisco:

In response to your comment

Regarding

"Permiteme communicate because I bought my machine when I care SO"

see many users do, perhaps because of ignorance or because they simply buy it as well, but not it better if when you buy your laptop you could say what operating system you want, according to your needs. Even in this way the user can investigate and see what's best for you, maybe for full cost of the license says, umm good saving me 400 USD (operating system and office automation), is something that is obviously more topics to but consider what you put as an example.

In my case I use Window $ then it should pay for something that I will not use it?, Is that they not have the freedom to choose, and that the manufacturer does not impose it on me, there also have the freedom to change Manufacturer does not meet my needs, so it is not surprising that Dell or HP and in some countries offer the posilbidad you have GNU / Linux or M $.

Sounds good to explore other operating systems is more I do too, technology changes and maybe tomorrow other distributions of GNU / linux is best for the work I do, I make my own distribution if they so desire, but also I can tell you could have your machine running Virtual Box and thus under the GNU / Linux to work with virtual machines not only M $, but also OS X, or with other distros more smoothly, well this is because you understand from what I saw you are a programmer (MVP ASP / ASP.NET) in your blog

Ojo, everything I told you applies to branding machines or laptops, but what happens with the clones? I think most do not pay license when I also bought a clone I have Window $ pirate, I go home and erase it, because I'm not paying a license.

"Just curious, what do you pay for licenses you to program in all those languages and platforms? I assume that you pay ... or not?

Thank you for your comment, and the order to keep talking.

Esteban that blog is old, my current blog is http://msmvps.com/blogs/ffagas/.

Look for I programmed in Java before, Servers, Solaris and Linux only had my machine, I mention this because I very much agree with the fact that technology changes, in those days I was very interested in MS development tools, but after An assessment of the development tools and I clearly remember when I was in the framework 1.0 beta, I made my first program in C # using notepad and compile in command line because there was still no IDE, but from then onwards I can tell it was worth investing in these tools and that allowed me to be much more productive, at that time was net developer to venture into the world of MS that teimpo previously spent researching on how to configure a web server on Linux, and many other things (things that already exist) server I have a lot to expand into other areas such as project management, business solutions, project management, processes, life cycle management of applications, portals, business intelligence. In order to have both good and bad, what is important is constructive criticism about what they are doing wrong and that is something that I reject a lot of Open Source people, do not be fanatical. Well I do not dwell more on the subject because it is not my intention to build controversial. The important thing about all this is that each person is free to select one platform or another.

@ Francis: Then you agree that machines should not come

Estebandido | 15 May 2008

@ Francisco:

then you agree that machines should not come pre installed?

Francisco

If you should come pre-installed with an operating system, and then

Francis | 15 May 2008

If you should come pre-installed with an operating system, and then if you disagree with that OS then you change it or ask the manufacturer to install the OS that you want, look there are users who do not have time to escape to install an OS, and when they buy the machine if they want to pay more or less another version of the OS, in my case my machine came with Vista Business but the format is most striking to me vista ultimate and I installed it, but do the formatting, partitioning and install other operating systems did a month later, he would have done all this month if my machine came without an operating system pre-installed.

@ Frank: But right now there is no possibility of choosing

Estebandido | 15 May 2008

@ Francisco:

But right now there is no possibility to choose the operating system as you say that it should be this bad.

on the other hand you've been lucky, there are many people who could not get the windows vista because there are no drivers or for xp or linux

Francisco

That depends on each manufacturer, and now for most

Francis | 15 May 2008

That depends on each manufacturer, and now for most known manufacturers removed parts of drivers for different operating systems, such as at the time when he was seen in BETA and had all the drivers.

Estebandido

@ Francis: Then you would with older equipment, should be obsolete?

Estebandido | 15 May 2008

@ Francisco:

Then they would with older equipment, should be obsolete? or if you decide to change the system and do not have the drivers? if I get erros view can not change my system?

I recommend you read this article by Rafael Bonifaz

Teams do not become obsolete, I have an old machine

Francis | 15 May 2008

Teams do not become obsolete, I have an old machine and have had no problems with hearing about drivers, because so far I have recognized most of the drivers when installing Vista, some cases has not recognized yet been for components that do not use the portable. If I read the post, as I said in previous comments, every system has good and bad, what is important in this whole intersection of comments are the titles and the way in which evil is done do the other side, critics and we repeat not get carried away by fanaticism. Not bad to see the bad but the way we express it depends a lot on that this view is constructive criticism or malicious.

Greetings

@ Francisco: fanaticism? I could also say your fanaticism for M $ and

Estebandido | 15 May 2008

@ Francisco:

fanaticism? I could also say your fanaticism for M $ as defending him tooth and nail, then it is bigotry than you talk, what you think as your opinion is right or wrong and respect.

The only difference between what you think and what I think, is that whatever you say, whatever you do, your system will not cease to be exclusive and you that you will never change.

Freedom is priceless

Agustin | 28 October 2008

I have heard other viewpoints against francammente view and they are that: views. Everyone has their own. I have used windows vista for a year and have never had anything to complain about since I've never had a problem with this OS product marketing will continue and progress in technology will not stop but continues its unstoppable march forward. And here a few years you will see a new operating system VISTA TO FURTHER AVANNZADO as Microsoft's history has shown us in these last decades.
For those interested in the old models and operating systems before chechenn view this link:

Estebandido

@ Agustin: Greetings, as you say it is a good point

Estebandido | 28 October 2008

@ Agustin:

Greetings, as you well say it is a point of view, but the truth also experience and practice will teach you that unfortunately the system is having the worst eye and no go for the theme that is proprietary and so on.

And to show a very clear example in my Masters I have 19 colleagues with me are 20. When we brought the 19 Window $ Vista and I Ubuntu, at month 17 were changed from previous versions simply because their systems are damaged all the time, they hung the machines became too slow etc, etc.

Today 4 months after the balance of the class is: 15 Backward window $, 2-view, and 3 with Ubuntu.

So do not think you can say that the system is the best view, perhaps you will work well, but it will be because you re-new machine to pass it, and with cool features.

Otherwise, just do the test with the machine you are selling, because you put Vista? " Really that is broken in two, even I think only on that machine could run windows 95 and I do nothing else, so you'd be forced to have to throw the machine and pollute the environment when you could use this machine systems as Ubuntu, Knopix, Damn Small Linux, or better than that using it as a terminal for a project LTSP (Linux Terminal Server Project).

I recommend you read this article very interesting enemy Windows Vista Environment
