May God save us from Vista

estebandido | 17 April 2008

Is the holder of the note published in the Diario El Pais in Spain.

This gives us the reason, once again, why use Free Software because we can not be at the expense of a company change the systems and support we run out, or we are forced to have to buy a new computer, think about whether this happen with a system that manages a country's securities and the company that owns the system decides not to give more support or simply does not give us the keys or access to the system, there is a clear example as happened in Venezuela .

In many cases, such as the computer using my father would not need to change to a new operating system, but if you wanted support would be forced to have to buy a new computer. By the way, my family only use Ubuntu .

Today, buying a desktop or laptop brand is conditioned to the operating system they put on us, bone because I can not decide what I want as the operating system software?, Even if he wanted to have XP instead of Vista I have to buy it with Vista.

So free software gives us the freedom to choose the distribution that suits us, without having to change each time the computer, and above all have the satisfaction that I control my computer by 100%.

I hope that very soon and come to Ecuador computers DELL with Ubuntu .

Francis | 15 May 2008

For a certain way if Vista headache with certain other features will dramatically improve user productivity, but mainly I take the trouble to write in this blog is that you mean that the user has no freedom to choose which operating system you want for your new machine, then Let me inform you that when I bought my machine I care little about the OS, is but the first thing I do when I buy is to support the drivers and formatting so you have multiple partition on multiple operating systems Vista, W2k3 and Ubuntu. Because much research I am interested in offering for each OS and Ubuntu seems a good operating system, have yet to mature a bit but that's the final cycle of software.

About

"Let me inform you that since I bought my machine when I do not care SO"

many users do see, perhaps for lack of knowledge or because they just buy it so, but if you feel better when you buy your laptop you could say which operating system you want, according to your needs. Even in this way the user can investigate and see what is best for you, perhaps by subject cost of the license says, umm good saves me 400 USD (operating system and office automation), is something that is obviously more topics considered but this will put it as an example.

In my case I use Window $ then why should I pay for something that I will not use it?, Is that it not I have the freedom to choose, and that the manufacturer did not impose it, also there I have the freedom to change Manufacturer does not meet my needs, so it's no wonder that Dell or HP and in some countries offer the posilbidad you have GNU / Linux or M $.

Sounds good to explore other operating systems, is I also do, the technology changes and maybe tomorrow other distributions of GNU / linux is best for the work I do, I can make my own layout if you desire, but also I can tell you could have your machine with Virtual Box and thus running under GNU / Linux virtual machines to work with not only M $, but also OS X, or other distros without problems, well this what you understand as from what I saw you programmer (MVP ASP / ASP.NET) according to your blog

Mind you, everything I told you applies to brand machines or laptops, but what about clones? I think most do not pay license when I also bought a clone have Window $ I pirate, I come to my house and I erase it, since I'm not paying a license.

Out of curiosity, how much you pay for licenses to program in all these languages and platforms? I assume that you pay ... or not?

Thanks for your comment, and the order to continue talking.

Francis | 15 May 2008

Esteban that blog is old, my current blog is http://msmvps.com/blogs/ffagas/ .

Watch as I used to programming in Java, Solaris servers and Linux was just my machine, I mention this because I very much agree with the fact that technology changes, in those days I was very interested in MS development tools, but after An evaluation of development tools and remember clearly when I was in beta framework 1.0 I made my first program in C # using notepad and compile in command line and still there was no IDE, but in that time forward I can tell it was worth investing in these tools and that allowed me to be much more productive, at that time was net developer to enter the world of MS that previously passed teimpo investigating as to configure a web server on Linux, and many other things (things that already existed) server much for me to venture into other areas such as project management, business solutions, project management, processes, life cycle management of applications, Portals, Business Intelligence. In order to have both good and bad, what matters is constructive criticism about how bad they are doing and that is something I reject a lot of people Open Source, do not be fanatical. Well I do not extend deeper into the subject because it is not my intention to build controversial. The point of all this lies in the fact that each person is free to choose one platform or another.

@ Francisco:

then you agree that the machines should not come pre-installed?

Francisco

If you should come pre-installed with an operating system, and as

Francis | 15 May 2008

If you should come pre-installed with an operating system, and because if you do not agree with that OS as you change it or ask the manufacturer to install the OS you want, look there are users who do not have time to get to install an OS, and when they buy the machine if they want to pay more or less another version of the OS, in my case my machine came with Vista Business but the format is most striking to me vista ultimate and installed it, but do the formatting, partitioning and install the other operating systems did a month later, he had done all this month if my machine came without an operating system pre-installed.

estebandido | 15 May 2008

@ Francisco:

But right now there is no possibility to choose the operating system as you say that it should be wrong.

On the other hand you've been lucky, there are many people who could not get the windows vista because there are no drivers or xp or linux

Francisco

That depends on each manufacturer, and now for most

Francis | 15 May 2008

That depends on each manufacturer, and currently most known parts manufacturers take drivers for different operating systems, such as at the time when viewed in BETA and did not have all the drivers.

estebandido | 15 May 2008

So what would happen to the old equipment, should be obsolete? or if you decide to change the system and do not have the drivers? if I get erros view I can not change system?

Teams will not become obsolete, I have an old machine

Francis | 15 May 2008

Teams will not become obsolete, I have an old machine and I had no problems with regard to drivers view, because until now I recognized most of the drivers when installing Vista, some cases has not yet recognized was for components that do not use the laptop. If I read the post, as I said in previous reviews each system has good and bad, what is important in all this crossing of comments are the titles and the way that makes it look bad on the other hand, critics and we repeat not get carried away by fanaticism. Not bad to see the bad but the way they express depends heavily on this point of view is constructive criticism or malicious.

fanaticism? I could also tell your fanaticism for M $ and defend it tooth and nail, then it is bigotry what your talking about, do you believe in your opinion is right or wrong and respect.

The only difference between what you think and what I think, is that whatever you say, whatever you do, your system will no longer be exclusive and you can never change that.

Agustin | 28 October 2008

I have heard other viewpoints against francammente view and they are that: views. Everyone has their own. I have used vista for a year and have never had anything to complain about since I have never had any problems with this OS product marketing will continue and progress in technology will not stop but continues its relentless march forward. And here a few years will come to see a new operating system VISTA THAT EVEN AVANNZADO as Microsoft's history has shown us in these last decades.

@ Agustin: Hello, as you well say it is a point of

estebandido | 28 October 2008

@ Agustin:

Greetings, as you well say it is a point of view, but also truth and practice experience is teaching you that unfortunately the Vista system is the worst, eye and not go by the theme that is proprietary and so on.

And to show a very clear example, in my master me I have 19 classmates are 20. When we brought the 19 Window $ Vista and I Ubuntu, at month 17 were changed from earlier versions simply because their systems were damaged all the time, hung machines, became very slow, etc, etc.

Now 4 months later, the balance of the class is 15 with previous versions of window $, 2-view, and 3 with Ubuntu.

So do not think you can say that the system is the best view, maybe it works for you well, but because you have a machine will re-new for that to happen, and with very good features.

Otherwise, just try it with the machine you're selling, because you put Vista? ' you will see that it splits in two, even I think that machine could only run Windows 95 and not think anything more, so you'd be forced to have to throw the machine and pollute the environment when you could use that machine systems such as Ubuntu, Knopix, Damn Small Linux, or better than that using it as a terminal for a project LTSP (Linux Terminal Server Project).

I recommend you read this very interesting article Windows Vista enemy of the Environment
